Questions Before You Book?

Frequently Asked Questions

A few of the questions customers commonly ask before having their headlights restored.

How long does headlight restoration take?
Most pairs of headlights can be restored in approximately 60–90 minutes. Heavily oxidised or damaged lenses may take longer.
Can every headlight be restored?
No. External oxidation, yellowing, haze and many surface defects can usually be substantially improved. Cracked lenses, internal deterioration, condensation and some deep crazing may require repair or replacement instead.

We inspect the headlights before starting.
Will they look brand new?
Many headlights can be restored extremely close to their original appearance, but results depend on the age and condition of the lens. We would rather give you a realistic assessment than promise a result the headlight cannot deliver.
Can cloudy headlights fail an MOT?
They can. The MOT inspection considers the condition and operation of the lamps, including whether deterioration affects light output or beam pattern.

Restoration can correct external lens deterioration, but we never guarantee an MOT pass because other lighting faults may be present.
Do you come to me?
Yes. Ben’s Cosmetic Car Clinic is a mobile service based in West Molesey and serving Elmbridge and surrounding areas.
What happens if it rains?
We use weather protection where conditions allow us to complete the treatment correctly. If the weather is too severe to achieve the standard we require, we will rearrange the appointment.
How do I know how much my headlights will cost?
Send us clear photographs of both headlights together with your vehicle details and postcode. We’ll assess them and confirm your price before you book.
